Islay Single Malt
The Isle of Islay off the west coast of Scotland, together with its neighbouring island of Jura, is the home of some of the finest single malt whiskies ever to have been produced.
The peaty landscape and the pounding Atlantic ocean give the Islay whiskies a taste all of thier own. With a couple of exceptions they are packed with medicinal notes and deep smoky flavours.
Laphraoig is generally regarded as the strongest tasting general release whisky made in Scotland whilst Bruichladdich and in particular Bunahahain are a total contrast. Offering the taster a gentle and sweeter palate. There is something for everyone on Islay but if you are a fan of big powerful tastes then this may be your Eden. |
